Project:
Digital book --read all info below
Task: Create a virtual/digital 14 - 18 page children's book, ages 10 and under.
Outline:
Front and back cover needed
Dedication page needed
Reference page needed
- Think of story that has a moral message (perhaps a legend of some sort)
- Do a story board...teacher will explain...
- Begin writing story in word processor using font size 20- 24, front stye is your choice, but remember children need to be able to read it, save as 'children story'
- -decide on page layout --chose one layout only and stick to it
- -text on top part of page, and picture under the text ( you will be drawing and coloring the pictures in MsPaint, after you are done the writing portion)
- -or picture and text under the picture
- -or text, picture in middle and more text
- -or picture on top of page, text in middle of page and another picture on lower part of page
- -see sample templates on top of this page...
- Each page should have one or two sentences maximum, this is a children story
Next
- Draw and color a picture that relates each page in your children's story. Save each graphic as a jpeg, then insert the graphic into the page for that picture. Best to make large graphics, they will be more clear. Make sure everything is saved in your user folder. Suggestion, created a story book folder and put everything for this project into this folder.
- When you are done inserting the pictures into the word processing document do the editing, checking that spelling, punctuation, graphic placement is all good.
-page 1 should be the cover
-page 2 is the dedication page
-page 3 is first page of story and continue...
- second last page is the reference page (write down software used, that is all)
-last page is back cover, first write a very brief description of the story and then write a brief biography (one paragraph) of you, the author. You can draw a picture of yourself if you wish and add it to the bio.
Save your work all the time
When the book is done and the teacher checked it over you must save it as a pdf file. Next you run the pdf file through the 'flipsnap' online digital book software and it turns your work into a virtual book. Then you save the link and add it to your web page.
